In this body of work, each painting honours a certain place, tree, or simple moment of awe spent along the Merri Creek in Coburg by pausing and responding through colour, play and experimentation. These places along the creeks are like a hidden sanctuary for the artist, in which she is sure is true for many other locals and visitors. The works capture Jessie's love for the beautiful gumtrees lining the creek, the unruly Australian vegetation, the calls of currawongs and sense of peace these places bring. Painted along Merri Creek while watching the setting sun light up the tops of the trees and make the hanging gum leaves glow.
