This painting and Gateway were inspired by my participation in Butoh (a form of Japanese dance theatre) workshops and my observation of Butoh performers in rehearsals. Little Butoh and the Spirit World was inspired by my daughter Lucy, who had the opportunity to dance with the Butoh performers and the happy spirits within the room one night.
